Our university's Faculty of Science and Literature, Department of Turkish Language and Literature, welcomed the new academic year with its annual “Opening Lecture” event for first-year students, which has become a tradition.
The event, which aimed to promote the university, faculty, department, and other units that provide direct services to students, and also featured a symbolic lecture, was attended by department faculty members and assistants, faculty members, and first-year students.
The Vice Dean of the Faculty of Science and Letters and Head of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, Prof. Dr. Murat Ali Karavelioğlu, gave a welcoming speech and provided students with information about our University and the Department.
Sharing examples from his experiences, Karavelioğlu spoke about the steps students need to take on the path to success.
This year, Associate Professor Nusret Yılmaz gave the first lecture of the 2024-2025 academic year.
Yılmaz, speaking about the development of the novel genre in Turkish literature, emphasized why the novel was one of the genres that emerged late in Turkey. He also highlighted the paths to becoming a virtuous and successful individual.
The opening lecture, which was also honored by faculty members from different departments of the faculty, was conducted at an academic level with a question-and-answer session.
After the lecture, refreshments were served to faculty members and students, and the program concluded with a photo session.
