Professor Murat Ali Karavelioğlu

Professor Murat Ali Karavelioğlu was born on January 1, 1976, in the district of İnönü, Eskişehir. He completed his primary and secondary education in İnönü. In 1992, he enrolled in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at the Faculty of Letters, Istanbul University, and graduated with honors in 1996. In the same year, he began his master’s studies in the Department of Classical Turkish Literature and, in November, was appointed as a research assistant. He completed his master’s thesis under the supervision of Prof. Dr. M. A. Yekta Saraç. İsmail Hakkı Bursevî’s Commentary on Muhammediye (Volume I), Ferahu’r-Rûh He completed his master’s degree in July 1999 by submitting his thesis titled İsmail Hakkı Bursevî’s Commentary on Muhammediye (Volume I), Ferahu’r-Rûh.

In 2002, he commenced his doctoral studies in the Department of Classical Turkish Literature at the Institute of Turkic Studies, Marmara University, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Orhan Bilgin. A Critical Edition and Analysis of the Divan of Şem’î of Prizren, a 16th-Century Poet adlı tezi ile 2005 yılında bitirdi. 13 Ocak 2009 tarihinde İstanbul Üniversitesi Edebiyat Fakültesi Türk Dili ve Edebiyatı Bölümü Eski Türk Edebiyatı Anabilim Dalı’nda Yardımcı Doçentlik kadrosuna atandı. 6-12 Haziran 2010 tarihleri arasında Viyana Üniversitesi’nde seminer dersleri verdi. 1 Ocak-30 Haziran 2011 tarihleri arasında bilimsel araştırmalarda bulunmak üzere Manchester Üniversitesi’nin davetlisi olarak İngiltere’ye gitti. 22 Haziran 2012 tarihinde Eski Türk Edebiyatı Doçenti oldu. 12 Eylül 2018 tarihinde Iğdır Üniversitesi Fen Edebiyat Fakültesi Türk Dili ve Edebiyatı Bölümünde öğretim üyesi olarak göreve başladı. 6 Ağustos 2019 tarihinde Profesör oldu. Evli ve iki çocuk babası olup İngilizce bilmektedir.
