Professor Murat Ali Karavelioğlu

Professor Murat Ali Karavelioğlu was born on January 1, 1976, in the district of İnönü, Eskişehir. He completed his primary and secondary education in İnönü. In 1992, he enrolled in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at the Faculty of Letters, Istanbul University, and graduated with honors in 1996. In the same year, he began his master’s studies in the Department of Classical Turkish Literature and, in November, was appointed as a research assistant. He completed his master’s thesis under the supervision of Prof. Dr. M. A. Yekta Saraç. İsmail Hakkı Bursevî’s Commentary on Muhammediye (Volume I), Ferahu’r-Rûh He completed his master’s degree in July 1999 by submitting his thesis titled İsmail Hakkı Bursevî’s Commentary on Muhammediye (Volume I), Ferahu’r-Rûh.

In 2002, he commenced his doctoral studies in the Department of Classical Turkish Literature at the Institute of Turkic Studies, Marmara University, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Orhan Bilgin. A Critical Edition and Analysis of the Divan of Şem’î of Prizren, a 16th-Century Poet He completed his Ph.D. in 2005 with the dissertation A Critical Edition and Analysis of the Divan of Şem’î of Prizren, a 16th-Century Poet. On January 13, 2009, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Classical Turkish Literature, Istanbul University, Faculty of Letters. Between June 6–12, 2010, he delivered seminar courses at the University of Vienna. From January 1 to June 30, 2011, he visited the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom as a guest researcher for scientific studies. On June 22, 2012, he was promoted to Associate Professor of Classical Turkish Literature. He voluntarily left Istanbul University on September 14, 2016. On September 12, 2018, he joined Iğdır University, Faculty of Science and Letters, Department of Turkish Language and Literature as a faculty member. He was promoted to Professor on August 6, 2019.
