A Discussion on “Books and the Walking Libraries of Our Recent Cultural History” Was Held at Our University 

This week's guest on the weekly online talks organized by the Civilization Academy was Prof. Dr. Murat Ali Karavelioğlu, Faculty Member of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

The first session of the discussion titled “Books and the Walking Libraries of Our Recent Cultural History” was held.

Hundreds of faculty members, students, and regular attendees of the Civilization Academy participated in the interview conducted under the guidance of Lecturer Mustafa Cesur.

In the interview, Prof. Dr. Karavelioğlu touched upon topics such as a brief history of books, reading nature, the changing/evolving book culture and library services over time, book reading habits and technological developments, books and the internet world. He also spoke about famous bookworms and walking libraries who lived in various periods of Turkish history.

The interview, which was announced to be held on February 1, 2024, ended after the question-and-answer session.
